The Hunt for “Samuel de Champlain’s Gold”
is on! Based on local folklore and a little bit of fiction,
Champlain’s treasure may very well be buried on Royal
Island; directly adjacent to the Delawana. Historically, Royal
Island was an overnight stop as Champlain explored Georgian
Bay’s 30,000 islands in 1615.
The Game can be customized to fit groups of all sizes. Having less
people per team will create manageable groups so that all
participants are kept active. This is a high impact activity
as teams will be traveling throughout the entire resort. Canoeing
may or may not be implemented depending on your specifics
requirements and group demographics.
The Delawana Gold Rush is an elaborate Treasure Hunt within
a Scavenger Hunt. Teams are given a list of riddles. The one
word/number answer to each riddle will reveal yet another
piece of the master puzzle; eventually uncovering the location
to Champlain’s lost gold treasure. The team that actually
finds the gold first is ultimately the winner.
Approximately 20 riddles will be given to each team. Armed
only with a compass and some maps, they must correctly solve
each “walkthrough” task based riddle in order
to obtain the answer; a word, phrase or number that is part
of the master puzzle.
In essence, the master puzzle is a paragraph with 20 holes
if you will - blank spaces that must be filled in, in order
to reveal the final clue to Champlain’s gold.
Once all 20 riddles above have been solved, the answers will
be plugged into the appropriate “hole” in the
master puzzle. Once the group feels they know the answer to
the master puzzle, they must go and actually retrieve the
gold. |
